Our Commitment to
Child Safety
At The WELL Center for Movement & Dance, the safety and well-being of every child entrusted to us is a responsibility we take seriously.
We believe children deserve to learn, dance, create, and grow in an environment where they feel safe, respected, supported, and valued.
As part of that commitment, The WELL’s faculty and staff are trained in Stewards of Children®, a child sexual abuse prevention program developed by Darkness to Light. The training provides adults with practical knowledge and tools to recognize signs of abuse, understand healthy boundaries and appropriate adult–student interactions, respond responsibly to concerns, and take an active role in creating safer environments for children.
But child safety is about more than completing a training program. It is part of our culture and an ongoing responsibility.
What This Means at The WELL
Trained Adults
Our faculty and staff receive child-safety and abuse-prevention training to help them understand their responsibility when working with children and young people.
Professional Boundaries
We maintain clear expectations for appropriate adult–student interactions, physical contact, supervision, and professional boundaries.
Safe Communication
We establish guidelines for communication between faculty, students, and families, with an emphasis on transparency, professionalism, and age-appropriate interactions.
Open Reporting
Concerns about a child's safety or well-being are taken seriously. We are committed to responding appropriately and in accordance with our policies and applicable reporting requirements.
Ongoing Education
We believe child safety is not a one-time training or a box to check. We are committed to continuing to learn, evaluate our practices, and strengthen the ways we protect and support the children in our care.
Creating a Culture of Safety
The adults who work with children hold a position of trust—and with that trust comes responsibility.
At The WELL, we want safety to be reflected in how we teach, how we communicate, how we supervise, and how we care for our dancers.
Our goal is to create a studio environment where children feel comfortable being themselves, where they know they are respected and valued, and where adults understand the importance of creating healthy, safe relationships with young people.
Dance should be a place where kids can grow, build confidence, find their voice, and belong.
At The WELL, we believe they deserve to do all of that in a place where they feel safe.
